The Lightning Epoch Program is Omnibit’s flagship rewards initiative designed to highlight and reward active participants who contribute to the growth and security of the oBTC ecosystem. With an epoch-based system starting in January of each year, the Lightning Epoch Program aligns incentives with long-term engagement while introducing fresh opportunities for participants to earn Lightning Shards—a unique representation of user involvement in staking, holding, and ecosystem activities.
Earning Lightning Shards
Participants can earn Radiant Shards in three primary ways:
Staking BTC and Holding oBTC
Engaging with Ecosystem Vaults and DeFi Integrations
Epoch-Specific Milestones and Community Challenges
1. Staking BTC and Holding oBTC
By staking Bitcoin through Omnibit to mint oBTC or simply holding oBTC in your wallet, users can earn Lightning Shards for supporting the ecosystem’s growth. Lightning Shards accrue hourly based on the amount held and the duration of the stake during each epoch.
Formula for Lightning Shards: Lightning Shards = Epoch Days × Amount of oBTC × 1,200
For example, if you hold 0.02 oBTC for 10 days in an epoch, you’ll earn 240 Lightning Shards.
Note: All holdings are weighted equally regardless of wallet distribution.
2. Ecosystem Vaults and DeFi Engagement
The Lightning Epoch Program offers multipliers for participants who contribute oBTC to Omnibit’s DeFi Vaults or whitelisted ecosystem integrations.
Omnibit Vault: Designed for yield optimisation, depositing into the Vault provides the highest Lightning Shard multiplier available.
DeFi Integrations: Omnibit-approved DeFi opportunities, including liquidity pools, lending protocols, and staking mechanisms, allow participants to amplify their rewards. Multipliers vary by integration and are updated at the start of each epoch.
This ensures that active users earn enhanced rewards while contributing to liquidity and financial stability across decentralised ecosystems.
3. Epoch-Specific Milestones and Challenges
The Lightning Epoch Program introduces unique activities and milestones for each epoch, providing diverse opportunities for earning Radiant Shards:
Bolt Boosts: High-impact, time-limited challenges rewarding swift participation in protocol updates, new integrations, or staking campaigns.
Solar Flare Events: Community-driven initiatives such as governance participation, referral programs, or content creation aimed at fostering collaboration.
Chronicle Rewards: Retroactive rewards for participants with consistent staking activity across multiple epochs or for significant contributions during pivotal ecosystem moments.

The Lightning Epoch system operates in distinct quarterly cycles starting from January 1st. Each epoch introduces new milestones, DeFi integrations, and reward opportunities, ensuring fresh engagement and alignment with the ecosystem’s growth.

Navigate to the Lightning Epoch Dashboard to view accumulated Radiant Shards, milestone progress, and upcoming opportunities.

Lightning Shards are non-monetary and hold no intrinsic or convertible value. They cannot be traded, sold, or redeemed for digital assets, currencies, or tokens. Omnibit reserves the right to modify, suspend, or terminate the Lightning Epoch Program at any time without notice, including altering how Lightning Shards are earned or distributed.
Participants must comply with Omnibit’s Terms of Service, and access to the program may be restricted based on jurisdictional limitations or user eligibility. Fraudulent or manipulative activity, including creating multiple accounts or using automated systems, is strictly prohibited and will result in forfeiture of Lightning Shards and program access.
